I have been TTC for 3 years. The first problem came up when I was diagnosed with DUB (dysfuncional uterine bleeding). Basically I would bleed for 3 weeks straght, and it wouldnt stop. Right then the dr. put me on progesterone and iron. Took it for a year, no luck. I decided to try some herbal treatments (vitex, maca root, DIM), no luck. So, I called my dr. and he thinks we should try clomid. I've never taken clomid, and I didnt want to b/c of my DUB. I was afraid it would flare up again if I started messing with my hormones again. Basically, have any of you had any side effects from Clomid, and successes, any dissapointments??
I had several attempts with Clomid with no success. After completing 6 cycles (which is the max), I was then put on Metformin. We're planning to start trying again for our 2nd child next year and I am starting on Metformin by the end of the year.
Every person is different. Once your blood work is done, your doctor will be able to determine if Clomid (or a combination of stimulants) are right for you.
I have had friends who were very successful with Clomid alone.
One of the main side effects is that it enlarges your ovaries because it pushes you to ovulate mutilple eggs. I had nausea and headaches for the first 2 attempts ….after that it was fine.
here's some info about clomid…

It doesn't work for everyone, but I hope it gives you what you've been waiting for! 3 years is a long time, good luck and baby dust!

It worked for me. I was on Clomid at 50mg on days 5-9. After cycle 1, we conceived, but sadly miscarried at 5 weeks. After cycle 2 of Clomid, I am now 8 weeks pregnant and all is well.
Good Luck!

I am taking clomid right now, for the "clomid challenge" test, which the gyno is doing to check my hormone levels. I don't plan to ttc this time, my husband is going to Iraq next year, and I don't want him to miss out on 15 months of a baby's life, but so far, I have no side effects whatsoever. The problem is, my periods, which were always kind of irregular, never came back after I went off the pill. Gyno thinks I may have thin PCOS, and I think it might be a slight thyroid problem. Anyway, I'm sure you didn't mean anything negative by it, but lots and lots of women are on clomid to conceive, and I don't consider that they've been "defeated".

I took my first round of clomid 50mg, and I should have started my period yesterday. No period still so far but I am going to wait a couple more days. I get hot flashes and nauseated sometimes. It's hard to tell if it's syptoms from the clomid or from pregnancy. I am hoping for pregnancy of course. Good luck to you.
